Description
Sergiyev Monastry is in Russian town Sergiyev Posad. It is a very sacred place in Russia and is named after one of the most important saints Sergiy Rodonezhski. This place is important to me not because I am religious but because of many personal stories connected to it. One of them was when my future husband took me there for a trip and we did all the forbidden things in communist Russia, like lighting candles and leaving payers for our families.
I painted it from the memory and a photograph I took when I was returning to the train station. The painting is rather realistic but I still maintained the triangular or diagonal composition which is present in all of my landscapes. I also used unprimed stretched 15 cotton duck canvas because I like to use acrylic washes to create less photographic effects. The painting is unframed.
